About me!

Hi! My name is Andrea and I am from Rome, Italy.

In 2016 I got my Master's Degree in Computer Science launching the project In Codice Ratio, that leverages neural networks to transcribe ancient manuscripts from the Secret Vatican archives. After that, I spent one year at Translated working on ModernMT, the world's first adaptive Machine Translation engine.

I then went back to University to pursue a 3-years PhD on AI-powered relational reasoning. My research focused on Link Prediction, i.e., on using Machine Learning techniques to infer missing connections in Knowledge Graphs. You can check my works out here!

I am currently working as a Machine Learning Software Engineer at Google Research, in Zürich.

I am interested in all applications of the recent advancements in Machine Learning, and I am especially invested in Explainability, i.e., answering questions like "Why did my AI model do this?".

In my spare time, I love reading comic books; my tastes cover pretty much the entire spectrum of comic book genres, ranging from western graphic novels to Japanese manga to Carl Barks Disney comics. I am also super passionate about game design; I am particularly fond of Nintendo titles, the Metroid franchise holding a special place in my heart.

I am a bit of an introvert, and I'd choose sharing a pizza with my close friends (or with myself...) over any party.
